Unravel Review

Unravel is a platform puzzler developed by Coldwood Interactive and published by EA, available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Unravel follows the captivating story of the adorable Yarny, a little red ball of yarn set with the task of exploring a number of locations scavenging numerous collectables.

The simplicity of the game is one of its best features, there’s no excessive baggage attached. The task is simple, work your way through various locations interacting with a number of real world objects such as plant pots, bikes and apples to progress through to the end of the level.

Undoubtedly the best feature of this game however is easily the visual aspects of the game. Next generation graphics are truly shown off to their very best, I can’t think of a game currently available to next gen gamers that looks as good as this. Watching Yarny try to catch a butterfly glistening in the sunshine really is remarkable. Coupled with stunning visuals, the audio compliments this perfectly, the singing of birds whilst exiting the house is truly an unforgettable moment.

Overall, Unravel in my opinion is an absolutely brilliant game, the best platformer since Littlebigplanet, and shows that there is still place for platform puzzlers on next generation consoles.
