It’s been a while…

Looking out on Lake Louise

It’s been a while since my last blog post – two and a half years to be precise. Even before then I wasn’t posting regularly. Looking back, I don’t quite know why I stopped blogging – I enjoyed it, was connecting with a number of people from around the world and had big dreams for my blog. In 2017 I made 52 posts and had over 11,000 views from 5000 visitors to my site.

I feel quite disappointed that I just stopped blogging, I’d made huge progress on my blog from 2016 where I only posted 22 times and had 436 views from 153 visitors. It would have been great to see where my blog was at in January 2021 and the growth I had made. Nevertheless, we can’t dwell too much on the past.

2017 was a great year for my blog!

Surprisingly enough though, my blog still did get a fair amount of traffic since I stopped back in July 2018. Whilst it’s not anywhere near the numbers of 2017, it was still nice to see people had visited my site and read some of my ramblings. The majority of my traffic in this period came from my movie, tv and video game reviews. Thus, thanks to a little new year’s resolution motivation and WordPress stat confidence boost, I am back in the world of blogging!

Given my enjoyment for review style writing and of course my enjoyment for watching movies and playing video games, I’ve created a brand new blog specifically for movies, tv shows and video game reviews. I would be highly grateful if you could check it out and give it a follow – www.thepausemenu.co.uk. I’m planning to post at least 5 times a week on this blog and the content will mostly be reviews of the latest movies, shows and games as well as general entertainment news.

But I will also be back blogging here on my personal blog. This will mostly be about my boring everyday life, my adventures (when we are out of lockdown) and parting my wisdom to the world through my ramblings. I’m hoping to post at least once a week and rekindling some of that blogging form from back in 2017!

Let’s make 2021 the best year yet and thanks to all of those that have stuck around.

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”

Mother Theresa

2018

How in God’s name are we in March already! It’s been around 4 months since my last blog post and that’s due to the craziest of months I have had!

Over the past 4 months I have been busy with the following:

• Celebrated my 21st Birthday

• Visited Dublin

• Started a new job

• Moved out of my house

• Visited Disneyland Paris

• Moved back into my house

• Christmas and New Year festivities

• Celebrated my friends 21st birthday

• Visited Thailand

• Celebrated my girlfriends 21st birthday

As you can see the past couple of months have been hectic to say the least so blogging sadly went down the priority list, never the less I’m back now and eager to report on my trips!

Also, the challenge of £5,000 in 4 months didn’t go quite to plan, however it was definitely a good starting point in helping me save more money. I will probably be doing a similar (more realistic) challenge in the coming months so keep posted!

21

So it’s finally here, the grand old age of 21. I have had a wonderful day and been spoilt beyond my wildest imagination, maybe growing old isn’t so bad after all!

After a fun day yesterday of Halloween games and films, it was an early start today as my excitement took over like the big kid I am! I have been well and truly spoiled my amazing family and girlfriend – I have a trip around Europe next year to look forward to and enough cash to own a Ferrari (at least for an hour or two!).

In traditional Charlie Brown style I spent the day playing Laser Quest before having all you can eat pizza for lunch – big kid indeed!

I’m off to Dublin tomorrow for 2 nights and the celebrations don’t stop there as I’m having a family/friends party on Saturday night – yep I’m really milking this!

So I guess being 21 isn’t so bad after all!

Midlife Crisis

So in less than one month, I turn the grand old age of 21 and if I’m being honest I’m having an early midlife crisis! Okay midlife crisis may be a bit extreme, but I feel as if I’m putting so much pressure on myself to do so much in so little time – see previous post for an example!

Anyway, aside from my ‘quarter life’ crisis, I have decided to do a Q&A as a bit of fun leading up to my birthday, so if you have any questions whatsoever, fire away! I’ll look to answer every question and keep your eyes peeled for the post which will be coming in the coming weeks!

I also want to hear from you, what did you do for your 21st birthday? In my opinion a 21st birthday is no bigger than any other birthday (in the UK at least), however in recent times a 21st birthday has increasingly grown bigger and bigger. Other than a couple of nights away in Dublin I don’t really have anything planned so I want some inspiration to what I can do!

Let me know what you did for your 21st birthday and what random facts about me you’d like to know! Whether you want to know my shoe size or my favourite Disney character, feel free to ask ANYTHING!

Winter is coming…

…well we have to get through Autumn first Jon Snow but you’re not wrong! Autumn and Winter are my favourite of the seasons by a country mile, partly because I cannot cope when the weather is too warm! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy holidays in the sun, but they are a different kind of sun to what we get here in the UK.

Already the days are getting shorter and the temperature a lot cooler and summer feels like a distant memory. I can’t wait for hot chocolates, long winter walks and all of the festivities that are to come. I think that’s what makes Autumn/Winter so special – the amount of holidays there are! There’s Halloween, Bonfire night, Christmas and if you’re American, Thanksgiving too.

Halloween is also the day before my birthday so that always used to add to the excitement surrounding my birthday so I’m a huge fan of Halloween! I’m a bit too old to go trick or treating nowadays, but I’m still planning on playing lots of Halloween themed games with my sister and watching scary movies!

I always tend to have a holiday booked around Christmas time as well, this year it’s Disneyland Paris and I’m super excited for it this time around!

The films are so much better in Autumn/Winter as well! Yes you get your Summer blockbuster movies at the cinema but for me you just don’t have those staple films that get you excited for Summer. In Winter you obviously have all of the Christmas classics, Elf, Love Actually to name a few and that’s why for me it’s such an exciting season.

Now I know Autumn/Winter isnt perfect, I’ve already noticed a mass increase of spiders and moths creeping into the house and I’ve definitely taken for granted not having to defrost the car the past couple of weeks! But for me Autumn and Winter are definitely the best seasons of the year!

Are you a Summer lover or a Winter wonderer? Let me know in the comments!

POPINABOX #2 May 2017

After a great first months subscription to Popinabox in April, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Mays delivery! The trio of Pop Vinyls arrived midway through the month and I have to be honest, it was a disappointing selection!

The first Pop which I had been sent in May’s delivery was Uncle Rico from the film Napoleon Dynamite, a Pop which I had marked as one I wanted on the Popinabox website. The design is great and mirrors that of Uncle Rico in the film, and to make things even better it goes perfectly with my Napoleon Dynamite figure.

The second Pop from May’s delivery was Holden from the American Horror Story Hotel series. Having never watched American Horror Story or ever had the inkling to watch it, I feel as if this Pop was wasted on me. That said, the figure does look great and the blood around the mouth really sets it apart.IMG_1768

The third and final Pop for May was Sarah Manning from the Orphan Black TV series. Again, similarly with AHS, Orphan Black is a show I have never watched so I didn’t really have any idea who she is! The Pop itself is fairly standard, it has good detailing but there is nothing which really sets it apart from other figures!

Pop Ratings:

Uncle Rico – 3.5/5

Holden – 4/5

Sarah Manning – 2.5/10

So not the best of months for May’s delivery but hopefully we will have a much better delivery for June! If you want expand your own collection with POPINABOX, use code SUPERNOOD-R1 at the checkout for a discount!

POPINABOX #1 April 2017

Pop vinyls have become one of the most popular collectibles in recent years. These brilliantly detailed bobbleheads are Funko’s best selling product and rightfully so, with characters from Star Wars, Marvel and Disney to name but a few, there is a pop vinyl out there for everyone!

I’d been wanting to grow my collection for a while, so I decided to sign up for a POPINABOX subscription. For those of you that don’t know, POPINABOX is basically a subscription service where you get sent mystery Pops to your door every month! I opted for the 3 pops per month subscription which worked out at £8.39 per pop, which isn’t bad considering one would usually sets you back around £9.99.

I couldn’t have been anymore excited for receiving my first subscription if I had tried! The first character I unboxed was the fantastically detailed Dug from the movie Up! The detailing is fantastic and he even has a slightly furry feel almost as if he has actual fur!

The second pop I unboxed was the German Shepherd pop from the ‘pets’ collection. I love German Shepherds and when I eventually get my house I intend to get a real life one as a pet, but I guess this will do for now! The detailing on this figure is great, maybe not as good as Dug, however a gorgeous pop nonetheless.

The third and final pop vinyl from April’s delivery was the funky looking Napoleon Dynamite, from the film Napoleon Dynamite (obviously). This pop looks just like the real character and even comes equipped with the classic ‘Vote for Pedro’ t-shirt.

Pop Ratings:

Dug – 4.5/5

German Shepherd – 4/5

Napoleon Dynamite – 4.5/5

So overall not a bad first months subscription to the POPINABOX service and I’m looking forward to the next delivery already! If you want expand your own collection with POPINABOX, use code SUPERNOOD-R1 at the checkout for a discount!

Taking a stab at YouTube

As you may have noticed, a lot of my posts are video game related and for years I have longed to set up my own YouTube channel showcasing my best gaming moments. And since I finally got my magnificent iMac I can now finally enter the world of YouTube!

Currently my channel consists of 5 videos, 4 of them simply being gameplay and the latest video, posted earlier today, is a general introduction to the channel. I have big plans for my channel and I’m hoping it can be as successful and as enjoyable as blogging has been. Don’t fear however, I am still 100% committed to blogging!

I need 100 subscribers to change my YouTube URL, and this needs to happen ASAP as I am stuck with the embarrassing name I created back when I was 13! I would hugely appreciate if you could check out my channel and subscribe – https://www.youtube.com/user/MrSupernood.

That’s all for now folks!

Today I bought…

…an iMac!

Yep, the spending continues! And this time it’s on probably my most expensive purchase ever!

For an absolute AGE I have longed to replace my now 10 year old laptop for a high powered replacement! I had been deliberating for the past couple of weeks on which machine to choose, and after several pros and cons lists were made and plotted onto my notice board, I finally settled on the mighty 27 inch iMac with 5K Retina display.

Oh and how it is pretty – I can’t take my eyes of it’s crystal clear display! Finally I now have the capability to use photoshop, illustrator and now potentially look into app development, something which I had only dreamed of being able to do on my prehistoric laptop!

I am sure I will be posting about my new shiny baby very soon, so be sure to follow and keep your eyes peeled!

Today I bought…

…a Jordan hoodie!

I’m a huge fan of American sports and I am a huge admirer of Michael Jordan, however I have never had anything from the Jordan range, until today!

I picked up this beauty from the Nike store for £60 and already can’t wait to add more to my new found collection! I’ve already picked out two pairs of shoes that I NEED!
